Did you know that your oral health is just as important as the health of your gut? So it’s time to take a good look at your oral hygiene. What toothpastedo you use? Do you use mouthwash or not (hopefully not ;)? What influence does nutrition have? And are you already using a tongue scraper? In this blog, I will explain what influence the aforementioned things have on your (oral) health) and what you can do for good natural oral care.
Your oral flora is just as important as your gut flora. Saliva plays an important role in this. So while you may think you are being hygienic with fluorescent mouthwash, you are actually destroying your entire oral flora. And that while saliva contains healthy bacteria, enzymes, antibodies, minerals and pain-relieving substances. So why destroy a good thing?!
Ok, so we’ll leave the mouthwash in the future. Instead, a number of other things are very important to pay attention to. For example, have you ever taken a critical look at your toothpaste? Again, fluorescent colors are NOT good for you! Choose a natural toothpaste, made from only natural ingredients. Like, for example, the fine natural toothpaste from The Elite Home. I use these for myself as well as for the children. They have a variant for adults and forchildren . You can read here why it is better to choose a natural toothpaste without fluoride.
Everyone knows that it is important to brush well to prevent cavities. But a much more important factor that causes cavities in your teeth is your diet. Processed foods, as well as foods with a high sugar content and gluten, cause both cavities and canker sores. Sweeteners, alcohol, dyes, sulfates and fluoride also reduce the production of saliva, wounds in the mouth and irritated gums.
So these are a number of things you can pay attention to if you would like better (oral) health. Here are some things you can do on a daily basis for better oral hygiene:
- This may be stating the obvious, but brush at least 2x a day. And then with a natural toothpaste .Preferably half an hour before or after eating, otherwise you will damage your tooth enamel.
- Use a brush. You don’t want to know how much food residue is still stuck between your teeth after brushing. Use a brush after brushing to remove it.
- Use a brass tongue scraper ! It removes bacteria and toxins from your tongue (you know.. that white deposit) and thus ensures fresh breath and good oral hygiene. Use it in the morning before brushing your teeth.
- Do you really want to go all-in when it comes to oral care? Then you can rinse your mouth with coconut oil once a day (preferably in the morning on an empty stomach). Also called oil pulling . It has an antibacterial effect, it ensures better teeth, less inflammation of your gums and whiter teeth. You let the coconut oil go through your mouth for 10 minutes and then spit it out in the trash can (otherwise you will have clogged your drain in no time ;))
